Now this is a real shock, I was to start offering Spicer Hallfield albums as they have a really nice range (if not a little pricey), excellent quality (which is why they are pricey) and of course a British Company! Lets hope they find a buyer!
UK-based album company Spicer Hallfield has appointed administrators after being hit by the financial crisis
The business is now looking for an acquirer, says owner Mike Smith. ‘The worldwide banking crisis has created critical financial challenges for the company. The board has been involved in ongoing and intense discussions with the company’s bank, RBS, to obtain funding to secure the company’s future.
‘However, despite offering further injection of shareholder investment we have unfortunately been unable to reach agreement with the bank on additional lending facilities. Sadly, in these circumstances the directors have no option other than to appoint administrators to find a buyer – in the meantime it is business as can normally be expected under these circumstances.’
The company’s CEO John Wyatt is currently working with MCR, the appointed administrators, to keep the business running day to day during the search for a new buyer.
‘We are working flat out to find a solution to this problem,’ says Wyatt. ‘We are mindful of the extremely negative impact this is having on both staff and distributors and we are doing everything in our power to find ways to both save jobs and the legacy company that is Spicer Hallfield.’
He adds that ‘the job of the administrators is to secure the best outcome it can to ensure the future of the company and I am confident that there a number of viable solutions. Whatever the outcome, I am sure there will be an ongoing business to serve our customers and to save as many jobs as possible.’
Spicer Hallfield has been working for months to implement a move of its Bucks factory production lines to the company’s sister site in Bradford. The firm was planning to maintain head office and support staff locally in the Haddenham area.

is there any truth in the rumours bailiffs were also sent to the bradford site to recover machinery???if so will orders be safe???? where can one go to find out these things, nothing is forth coming from the firm, according ro reports on some sites
Not a clue but various sites are reporting it. I noticed on their own site there is no mention at all and it seems business is as normal so I guess that’s all it is at the moment, a rumour but it could be worth ringing them to find out?
I have used Spicer’s for years ………….they have been so good and supportive….its dreadful.
I have a wedding fayre on Sunday as well………….I use Spicers as examples!
Yes it’s terrible, hopefully they will come out of it but not heard anymore since the story came out.
How about we start a Lets Save Spicer campaign
As one of the Staff all the comments are very interesting!!!!
Hi Rich,
Well hopefully the sun will shine at the end of this rainbow and all will be sorted quickly to the benefit of the business and the industry
Have you heard anything positive from your side?
Si
Still denied access to Works.
Have Today been made redundant and having to apply for state redundancy.
Along with approx 20 more at Haddenham.
Really sorry to hear that Rich – I guess the mood is really low at the moment, hope you get something sorted soon m8!!
As a fan of the Spicer Hallfield range, i was wondering if anyone had any news about them? Can we still make orders with them?
Have this Tuesday have been been back into factory to fill in RP1 –Redundancy forms under the eyes of Administrators.
We had been promised a Loyalty bonus by management, for goodwill training etc. with new intake at Bradford . This is now in doubt. Will be happy to report a positive outcome on this payment.
Have worked for the last 2 days at a firm in Thame Oxon. A little different to SH but needs must.
The administrators for spicer hallfield should be ashamed of themselves.
My order was taken on Quick order at 12.30 pm on 3rd April ,(several hours after workers wereapparently locked out)
Although the money was immediatly taken out of the bank account, no conformation of the order was sent to me.
I received an absolute garentee on the phone yesterday that it was business as usual and garenteed that the order would arrive today as it was already processed and going out by a newly appointed courier.
Today, no order, nobody answering phones at Spicers, no contact details for administrators, nothing.
I tried to complain to the body which oversees the administators and it appears that she is not liscenced by MCR , but still licenced to a firm called Bigbys , so no action can be taken until this has been looked into.
Photographers and self employed people in general are been hit hard by this recession and we are continually been rodgered by the greedy financial services industry who do not honour thier word and look best at how to line thier pockets-GOD HELP THE HONEST WORKING CLASSES WHO DEPEND ON TRUST,FAIRPLAY AND HONOUR IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES – WE WOULD BE BETTER GIVING UP NOW
I dont expect this e-mail will be aired – the polititions protect only the wealthy and the banks,
The police will baton you if you demonstrate, and the financial services will help themselves to the left overs- Steve Fisher- Just one of thousands of hard working people without a voice in this world of greed..
Cheers for the update Steve,
btw i’m no politician, email aired

Not heard anything yet David but i’m waiting on a phone call tomorrow from Calumet to let me know what the latest is. Last I heard was the Administrators wanted the bids in by this Friday for someone to buy the business as a going concern.
Not sure what happens from there though but I know Calumet are current taking stock orders but not custom specials.

Anyone got any updates at all? BTW what do you all think of the new site design?
